Lyle grew up along the Crow River and spent his life hunting, trapping and studying wildlife.  As an avid black powder hunter he has shot numerous whitetail deer, caribou in Canada, buffalo in Nebraska, and antelope and mule deer in Montana with a muzzleloader.  As an archery hunter he has taken deer and black bear.  Lyle also worked as a guide in Montana for antelope and mule deer.

Lyle has fished the Great Lakes and Canada including fly-in trips.  He also had the opportunity to fish with Al and Ron Linder at Lake Vermillion.

Lyle is a lifetime member of the Minnesota Taxidermy Guild where he served as a board member and received a plaque of appreciation for all the work he has done for them. He served on the board of the Minnesota Deer Classic and is an official measurer for the classic every year.

He started doing taxidermy as a hobby after getting out of the US Marines.  After seeing the quality of his work, friends encouraged him to start a business, and he did in 1980.  He is now the most experienced taxidermist in Hutchinson, MN.  Lyle has mounted trophies for people from almost every state in the U.S. and even some mounts that are now in foreign countries.  His work is on display in the National Fishing Hall of Fame in Wisconsin, as well as local sporting goods stores in this area.  He has also won awards in both State and National competitions.
